Corp Charles C Tewksbury
Enlisted Aug 29 and mustered into U.S. service Oct. 10th '62 as a private of
Capt Coburn's 13th regiment Vermont Vol. Inft., for nine months. Was promoted
Corp. Jan. 12th '63. Reg't was commissioned of Col. Francis Randall. Served in
the defenses of Washington until June '63, the June 25th marched to Gettysburg
and was engaged in the battle. July 1-3rd '63 served in Stannard's 2nd Vt. Brig.
3rd Div. 1st Army Corps. Was honorably discharged July 31st 1863. Expiration of
term.
Reenlisted Aug. 30th '64 as a private of Capt. Templeton's Co. 11th Regt., Vt.,
Inft. heavy artillery to serve one year. Served in Vt. Brig., 2nd Div., 6th
Corps. Was detailed to the Div. Sharp Shooters and participated in the following
battles: Gilbert's Ford Sept. 13th '64; Opequon, Va. Sept. 19th '64; Fisher's
Hill Va. September 21-22nd '64; Cedar Creek Oct. 19th '64; Petersburg, Va. March
28-29th and April 2nd '65 and pursuit of Lee's army Apr. 2-9th '65. Was
honorably discharged June 14th '65.
