About Roena Wheelock:
Roena was born to her parents Peter and Sarah when Peter was 64 and Sarah was 19. It was Peter's third marriage, with Roena being his 17th child. Peter died six years later, leaving Roena with a young widow as a mother and with 6 older half-siblings. Roena married and outlived three husbands and had eight children, three of whom died young.

More about the Wheelocks:
Roena was distantly related to Eleazar Wheelock who founded Dartmouth College. Though their earliest common ancestor is Ralph Wheelock, who came to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1637 and settled in Watertown MA, our family always proudly claimed Eleazar as a relative. 1860: Roena Wheelock was living with husband Luther in Johnson VT along with their four children, two farm laborers, and a domestic. In the census, Roena is listed as "Roxanna," Kimetia is listed as "Remmetice," and Albert is listed as "Prince A." The hired help were listed as: Newell Woodard (26 M farm laborer born VT); Clarissa M. Gavre (39 F domestic born VT); Henry Hanes (66 M farm laborer born England)

1862: Luther Newton died

1870: After Luther died, Roena moved to Worcester VT. She is listed in the 1870 census as the head of household (value of real estate 250; value of personal estate 100) with just her youngest son Albert and a Fevlan Fraust (or Tuvican Frost -- the document is hard to read), noted as a pauper and "idiotic." The Tewksbury family, which Kimetia married into, is shown next door. Kimetia is listed as "Kate."

1880: At some point between 1870 and 1880, Roena moved in with her daughter Kimetia's family. The 1880 census for Worcester VT shows Roena Newton living with Charles and Kimetia R. Tewksbury, their three children, and farm worker Oranal Eastman (white male 19, born in VT, father and mother born in NH ).

1882: Married Daniel Sabin

1884: Daniel Sabin died

1888: Roena Wheelock died
